Arrest Referral Service
A brief summary of the service
The Arrest Referral Service is a response to an identified need for individuals arrested over the weekend and whose offence may be indirectly linked to substance use, (drug and alcohol). and who would normally not access substance use services.
Arrest Referral is a proactive service aiming to engage drug and alcohol users with treatment services at an earlier stage than would normally occur. The Arrest Referral Worker visits the police custody cells on Monday and Friday mornings to make direct contact with those who are held in custody. The worker is also present in court on Monday mornings for the same purposes.
